REFUGEES WELCOME AUSTRALIA
Refugees Welcome is a non-for-profit organisation that pairs people who are willing to open their homes with refugees, providing them with a home and community. When approached to redesign their brand imagery, it was taken into extreme consideration the origins and religious backgrounds of refugees and to avoid all forms of stereotypes that are often associated with refugees. The hands became the overarching motif within the brand, as kinds gestures are universal and people understand the nature of community and friendliness. With 9 hands illustrated to represent different elements of the brand, they are able to be used for different events and posts that link to their respective themes.
IMAGERY
The imagery used for each post or flyer is aimed to portray the type of event or feel that the post is intended to promote. Each hand illustrated represents a different element and value of the branding and should be used according to the type of event held. The images are all in the forms of hands because they are internationally recognised by everyone, relatable and not offensive. The decision to use hands was to celebrate diversity and avoid any (if all) forms of stereotypes.
